As I sit home and ponder the week ahead – what to do with the grandkids, how to improve my golf game, what kind of furniture to buy for my new digs -there is a world of hurt outside my door. I am committed to the development of the Global Village(s) and all the hope it can provided for our mutual futures. And so I am mapping out a strategy for how I want to be more proactive in my digital life. So far it’s an outline:
1)LOOK- search for global networks and communities; also connect at an individual level, via Twitter, Facebook, Jumo, Global Voices, etc.
2)LEARN – find the teachers and networks who can assist me with skills.
3)LISTEN –Hear what the people are saying; especially other points of view.
It’s a start, join me.

it’s part of a play/poem.
it’s also inscribed in the bell tower in in the regimental clock tower at Stirling lines. My dad was away often (exercises in Germany during the cold war, and running the family business), but we used to tour the battlefields of europe on his motorbike. The stories of the commandos and special forces (in all their variety and allegiance) always captured my imagination.
Going beyond the idea of what is “imaginable” and finding that little window of opportunity to squeeze through and create (what Winston Churchill would say) “a great deal of mischief”.
I never passed (even the first phase) selection because I was “too nice”. But sometimes I rediscover that iota of my first passion and imagine that I am with Stirling creating havoc behind the lines of formal education.

“world of hurt” is an expression meaning the world is in a whole lot of trouble; global economic crisis, climate change, wars for liberation, and on and on….pick one, start anywhere….it’s all about connecting and collaborating now.
